Mobile phone coverage and service plans

Be it your first one ever, or an upgrade, buying a mobile phone is an exciting event. Of course, with a phone you have to select a service plan, because without it, your mobile phone will not work. Finding the right provider and a plan that works for you may be daunting, tricky and probably more complicated than buying the handset itself.

Extensive research has always been the key to great investments. That rule evidently also applies when signing up with a mobile phone service provider. You want to choose a reliable supplier, one who focuses on streamlining communication systems, expanding its network, and who likes to invest in the construction of better and improved mobile and satellite networks. In the end, this will give you more enhanced wireless phone coverage.

Choosing a fitting mobile phone service plan will depend on your specific needs. If you are one of those people only carrying a mobile phone for emergency situations, or you refuse to be tied down by a contract, you may opt for a 'no contract', 'pre-paid' or 'pay as you go' mobile plan. On the other hand, if you need a plan that will take family members into account you may sign up for an all inclusive family or fleet plan, which includes calls shared by everyone on the account, and/or accepts calling landlines and mobiles 24/7, without added charges.

Business choice packages can stretch a company's budget substantially. To find the provider that offers you the most qualified telecommunication deals, contact several in your area, explain to them how many mobile phones are registered in your company's name, how often they will be used and what features are essential. Will there be a lot of texting, or international calling involved? Do you require Internet access? Listen to the suggested deals and rates the sale's agents can put together for you, and ask them if they are willing to compromise and negotiate. Maybe they can even give you a discount, or add on extra bonus features such as, speakeasy, mobile data, or MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) and SMS (Short Messaging Service).

Attempting to get ahead of the competition, many mobile phone service providers will try to save their customers money, by generating specialty plans. 'Cap plans' are offered by all the major mobile phone carriers and they have proven to be hugely popular, because they provide an appealing amount of calling credit for free. For a flat monthly fee, 'caps" work by 'limiting' key services such as international calls, voicemail, or special phone numbers. Once the cap has been reached, standard rates will then apply.

Wireless provider services vary a lot from region to region. Inform yourself about their transmission and communication capabilities so you know exactly which carriers provide all-around service in your area. Really! Coverage is of the upmost importance, because it would be a shame if you ended up with an unsuitable plan, sticking you with an incredible amount of roaming charges. Or worse, you get no service at all in certain districts.

Customer provider satisfaction depends on several key elements. General availability and fees are on top of the priority list, closely followed by 'features'. This does not mean that other details are less significant and should be ignored. On the contrary! Before committing to any wireless service provider review their customer support services, if you have Internet access to your account, and how their bill paying system works. Find out how long their service contracts are, and whether the company will charge for the downsizing or upgrading of your mobile phone package, and will they hassle you once you decide to leave, or when your contract runs out. You would be surprised to find out, how some companies are willing to provoke a 'breach of contract', just to force you into an extended agreement.

Caution is the name of the game, and like with any major purchase, before committing, review company profiles, plans and fees, and do some comparison shopping. In the end, it will save you a lot of headaches and money!
